April SVW

First off, I apologize that my blogging has been sort of minimal.  I am in the process of packing and moving to the South Shore, needless to say I have been quite the busy bee.

This is a little late but it is April School Vacation Week for most youngsters in the New England region along with Earth Week!

If you are an average museum-goer and enjoy contemplative quiet time, with small galleries but plenty of space this is NOT the week for you to visit a museum.  This week is a big one for attendance numbers in all museums and most family friendly area organizations.  Now that being said if you are a family looking for activities to keep your kids busy, well check out your local museums and libraries!

Parents a couple tips.  Trips can add up quickly, plan ahead to minimize costs!  Pack a lunch with a few snacks and maybe an art activity.  This way you can explore some galleries, take a break and weather permitting you can eat a picnic outside and then even do a little art making to talk about the things that you saw that day.  Even if you aren't visiting an art museum, you can still plan fun activities for the little ones to learn that can enhance everything that they experience throughout the morning.

A website that I found to be very easy-to-use and fun is www.enchantedlearning.com it is very simple and you can take their ideas and bring it to an entirely different level.

Opening Day for Red Sox

As a New Englander I would be disowned from my family if I didn't follow all the sports in the area.  Today it just so happen to be opening day at Fenway.  That being said my Gardner trip is going to be postponed because of all the fan-aticis that will be taking over the Fenway area.  Not only will parking be a disaster but there will be a huge mass of drunken people yelling for sausages and hotdogs.  :) A scene that I do quite enjoy but only want to throw myself in there if I plan on attending the game.  Luckily Nate and I have tickets for the 17th so our time will soon come!

In the meantime I am going to use this time to prepare for my visit.  Stay tuned for some fun facts to make a visit to the Gardner more exciting!

Oh ya and GO SOX!

Just a quick Buzz

Taken in an old mansion
in Springfield, MA
Hey everyone! I am the New England Art Buzzer!

This is sort of like meeting the parents before a first date in high school.  Well to start things off I guess I should tell you a bit about me.  My name is Danielle Davis also known as Danny D, Double D, DSquared.  I am an artist, nature lover, humanitarian and art and cultural enthusiast.   I grew up in New England and share a true passion for the area and all that it has to offer.  My background is Art History and I have worked predominately in museums.  I have a fondness of art, food, music, history, education and anything that allows you to appreciate beauty and thought.  Growing up in New England I have been lucky enough to have been surrounded by all of these things and enjoy sharing my love of New England with others.

That being said this blog is going to be about celebrating New England and all that it has to offer.  From coastlines,  world class museums and busy cities to the farm hills, tiny artist communities and quaint towns off the grid.

Celebrate and explore New England and all it has to offer with me!

Next post will be about one of my favorite museums.  Before I leave Boston I need to visit the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and check out its new addition!  Stay tuned for insight, photos, feedback and and fun facts!
